The week of Oct. 10-13.

We had such a great time at Apple Day!  Unfortunately, for some reason I can not download the pictures on to my blog.  I will keep trying, but may have to send them in an email.

Today we got to meet with our 3rd grade buddies from Mrs. Judd's class.  Some kindergartners had 2 buddies as 3rd grade has 23 in their class.  The buddies filled out a questionnaire to get to know each other better.  You will see this coming home tomorrow!  We will try to meet with them once a month or every other month to do fun things together!

Columbus Day:  We read books about Christopher Columbus and made a pop-up folder with the 3 ships that they came in.  Have your child try to tell you the 3 ship names!

Homework:  Please make sure your child does any and all homework in pencil.  They need to get used to knowing, all work is done in pencil at home and school, unless it says to color. Thank you for making sure they write with a pencil. :)

Small reading groups:  I began small reading groups today!  Each week your child will meet in a small group with me to work on important skills on the groups level.  I will also continue to review letters/sounds and sight words.  Your child will also get a skill sheet each week to practice the skill we worked on in our group.  We will also read a little book together.  Please make sure your child reads the book to 2-3 people at home.  Siblings work too!  Ask them questions about what happened in the book so they are remembering what they read.  Send back the book and skill sheet in the baggie the next day we are at school.  Please leave the parent note in the baggie.  Let me know if you have any questions about reading groups.

Party Coordinator Meetings:  There are two meetings to accommodate schedules for those who signed up to lead parties.  The first meeting is this Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 6:30 in the cafeteria.  The second meeting is Friday at 9:00 am in the cafeteria.  The meeting will be beneficial to the leaders to know what to do for the parties.  Please try to be at one of the meetings.

No School:  Friday, Oct. 14  and Mon. Oct. 17

Firetruck and Firemen are coming this Thursday, Oct. 13!
