Feb. 18-19

It's great to be back to school!  We had a fun day doing Valentine's Day activities!  See the pictures below.

Reminder:  The spelling test will be on Tuesday.  Please work on these with your child as we haven't had much time at school.

American History!  We are learning about George Washington the next few days.

100's Day is Tuesday!  Please bring in your child's 100 collections!  I believe I mentioned that we will dress up like 100 year olds on Mar. 12.  It will actually be Friday, March 5! Sorry for the confusion of dressing up on a different day, but thank you for your understanding!

A note will be coming up giving more information on 100's day tomorrow!

We will not have any little reading books coming home until after conferences the following week.

A Conference Reminder came home today in your child's binder.  Please post that nearby for information about our Zoom!

Have a great weekend!

I love all of the Valentine boxes!

The week of Feb. 8-12.

This week we will be having fun doing some Valentine activities gearing up for our Friday full of Valentine fun!  Please send in the Valentine boxes and Valentines on Friday!  I just don't have tons of space to store them all ahead of time!  Thank you!  I have to stick much needed things to come to school in front of my door I walk out of the night before!  Lol!

We are beginning to learn about the Long i patterns.  We will be talking about:  i-magic e on the end, igh, -y at the end such as "fly", and how "ie" can also make the long i sound.

Our new spelling words are:
Sight words:  when, your, they, to, which, of
Spelling words:  ride, time, like, light, right, sight

I was impressed with how well the whole class did on the last spelling test!  Thank you for working on the words at home too!  It makes a difference!

I have seen such growth in all of the kids on their reading since Christmas!  Knowing more sight words and the long vowels rules has really improved their vocabulary to read books more fluently!  Listening to your child read each night as a priority is giving them a lot more confidence in their reading!  Thank you so much for helping your child take off on reading!  Keep practicing those sight words for 3rd quarter if your child hasn't passed them yet!

Math:  Our Chapter 5 math test on Place Value will be Thursday!  I feel like this skill has been the easiest for all of the kids.

The week of Feb. 2-5

Thank you to everyone that reached out about the passing of my Grandmother!  I really appreciate it!  I heard about other Grandma's that reached 100 too!  It's pretty cool!

Thank you for making sure your child's math homework gets done if I assign it.  Those are pages I want to make sure they are understanding.  They do have lesson 10 for tonight to do.

Small Group little book--This is not the multiple books in a bag.  It is when I send only one book in a bag with a skill sheet.  The bag with 4-5 books can be kept at home to reread the books for practice.

Please make sure to have your child read the small group little books 2-3 times at home and do the worksheet included, and send back within 2 days.  I have found that if a book isn't returned in 1-2 days, it gets piled on top of at home and could get lost.  If this happens, I won't be able to send home books with your child and you will have to pay for the book.

Valentine Boxes--I hope you are all finding shoeboxes for your child to decorate.  If not, maybe another family member or friend has one.  Please help your child decorate, cut a hole for the cards and send back on Feb. 12.  The cards are fine with only your child's name on it, but they can write their classmates' name on it if they can read the names.
