The week of May 7!

We had a fantastic Farm Day on Friday!  The weather was beautiful, the pets let us hold them, we made butter with cream and ate it with crackers, we learned about different kinds of grains, along with planting a sunflower seed, we made barn frames for our pictures of us a photographer took, and we got to taste different flavors of milk!  Most of us liked the cotton candy milk!  I hope you will plant the sunflower seed in your yard when it sprouts, as it is quite amazing how tall it will grow!

Barn frames--I meant to keep those until our pictures are developed, but forgot all about it and sent them home. Please keep track of it, until you get your child's picture to put in it!

This week!
In reading we are learning about "motion".  We are finding out about position of objects when they are in motion and changing speed and direction when objects are in motion.  We will demonstrate motion in various ways.

Since we are done with our last sight words, I am adding a few of my own.  This week we are learning for some/reviewing for others the words:  first, school, read, what.

Spelling test:  Friday is the last spelling test!  Yahoo!  I am so impressed with how well the class is remembering how to write the words correctly or close, when writing sentences!  I will be gone this Friday, so I would like for the substitute to collect the tests so I can see how they did.  I will hand them back next Monday.

In Science we will each get a bean seed to place in a wet paper towel and hopefully watch it grow the roots and stem.  We will be writing a plant journal and draw pictures of what we see every few days.

Math--We are reviewing Decomposing to 19 this week.  We will have a test on Thursday.  Then, we will move on to time and money, the last week and a half of school.

Coming up!
May 18      Field Day
May 24      Last day of school-1/2 day
